Scott Vinson

VP, Government Relations Food & Energy Policy

Scott Vinson has held several roles at the National Retail Federation, including his current position as vice president, government relations, food and energy policy. Vinson works primarily with NRF’s food retail members, including chain restaurants, grocers and other food retailers. He manages NRF’s Food Safety Task Force and Food Supply Chain Committee, and works with chain restaurant member companies on specific public policy issues of interest to the industry. His issue portfolio has him frequently engaging with federal regulators at the FDA, EPA, USDA and other agencies that regulate the food industry.   

Prior to joining NRF, Vinson worked on labor and immigration policy at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce in Washington, D.C. Before entering government relations, Vinson worked for lawmakers at both the state and federal level and on several campaigns. A native of Iowa, Vinson holds an undergraduate degree from Iowa State University and a law degree from the University of Iowa, where his areas of emphasis included labor and employment law. Vinson is also a Certified Association Executive (CAE), a designation from the American Society of Association Executives, which is a mark of distinction among association professionals. 

Vinson lives in downtown Washington, D.C., and in his spare time enjoys following current events, visiting family in Florida and listening to audiobooks about public policy, international affairs and world history. He’s also a huge fan of architecture and design.
